Wine Tasting | Avila Beach

While in Avila Beach, nothing caps off a morning swim and sun bathing session than a wine tasting tour through Avila Beach’s charming wineries and wine shops. Each shop, and every tour offers something unique to the wine connoisseur. Follow the Avila Beach wine tasting trail starting at Salisbury Vineyards.

i. Salisbury Vineyards
A historic delight, Salisbury vineyards has been operating in Avila since 1850. The wine tasting room and art gallery are found in a quaint century old school house. Noted for great red wine, this charming family owned winery is hard to beat. Wine tasting is $5. Open 11am to 6pm daily.

ii. Alapay Cellars
Alapay Cellars is boutique winery run by a husband and wife team. They produce nearly 6,000 cases annually and yet still manage to retain a friendly and hospitable atmosphere. The Tasting Room is open from 10:30 to 6:00 pm on Sat. – Thurs. and 10:30 to 8:00pm on Fridays where they also participate/host a farmer’s market. For those that might be intimidated by wine tasting-this is an excellent “first timers” haven.

iii. Avila Wine and Roasting
For more experienced wine connoisseurs Avila Wine and Roasting offers a surprisingly large selection for being a locally owned wine shop. While you can pick up a bottle or two of well known wines or enjoy a glass with your lunch here, this shop is really known for some of its more rare selections. They feature local wines that are grown through Central California and make a point to add limited edition wines, and wines from wineries with no tasting room. Open Sun. to Wed. from 12:00 to 5:00 and on Thurs. to Sat. from 12:00 to 8:00.

iv. Kelsey See Canyon Winery
Although you can taste a full array of award winning wines at Kelsey See Canyon Winery’s tasting room, the apple wines in particular are a unique feature of this family run vineyard. Not surprisingly, the vineyard is nestled in the midst of an apple orchard in the heart of Kelsey See Canyon. A newer vineyard, it has already established itself as a name in winemaking. You can relax and unwind at Kelsey See Canyon’s Winery every day from 11:00am to 5:30pm.

v. Morovino
Started as an Italian winemaker’s passion. To this day, “Gerry” Moro continues to craft limited edition artisan wines. Joining in partnership with Haub art gallery, this wine tasting experience offers great art, unique artisan wine, and a fun atmosphere right on Avila beach.
